Corporate Social Responsibility Programme in Kurdistan

WBC was back in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq in March to deliver a course in “Corporate Social Responsibility and Holistic Risk Management in O&G Projects” in Erbil.

The aim of the Corporate Social Responsibility course was to provide a customised training programme to selected managers of an oil and gas operator on the concept of holistic community engagement.  Holistic community engagement works on the basis that good neighbours equate to good sustainability and good security.  Delegates included staff from the local office and the field. Leadership Development in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq

Digital Transformation in Energy

For those of us who are not in IT, the words digital, digitisation and digital transformation may seem peripheral – technologies that affect our business but that we don’t really need to understand. We know – if only from using smart phones – how much the digital revolution has changed the way we live; but it’s now set to change the way we work and no manager can afford to ignore the potential of the new wave of technology available to business. The oil and gas business has not always embraced new technology as quickly as other sectors, but Digital Transformation (or DX) is now a hot topic across all industries and it has great potential for the energy sector – as long as companies view it as a strategic priority rather than an IT project. WBC delivered the The Downstream Oil and Petrochemical Industries for one of the world’s leading strategic management consultancies serving the energy sector in London in December.   The course was planned over many months and delivered by 5 WBC instructors over 5 days. to 20 management consultants.  The group was diverse with participants from Europe, North America, Australasia and South America, and from a variety of industry and functional backgrounds. Supervisory Skills and Coaching Workshops in Lagos

WBC delivered a Supervisory Skills Workshop for a local engineering form in Lagos at the end of October 2019.   This was followed by a Coaching Workshop for more senior staff.  Delegates were drawn from engineers and managers representing various parts of the company, who attended the programmes given by one of WBC’s renowned leadership experts.  The Supervisory Skills Workshop focused on the transition engineers moving into management must make:  from using hard skills – such as planning, organising and technical – to using soft skills – such as communications, delegation, change and giving feedback. The second programme was a Coaching Skills Workshop for senior leaders in the company who wanted to know how to get the best out of their staff. [Read more…]

Energy Leadership Course in Istanbul

WBC delivered its Leadership in Global Energy course in Istanbul to 7 delegates at the end of August 2019.   Delegates came from the UK, Croatia, Serbia, Iraq and India, representing various parts of the energy business, to attend the programme given by renowned Leadership expert Yanos Michopolous.  The Leadership in Global Energy course in Istanbul focused on the transition from using hard skills – required by managers in planning, organising and operating – to soft skills – required by leaders for driving change, setting direction and inspiring high performance. Through personal and practical examples based on years of experience, Yanos provided a comprehensive understanding of how to be an effective leader, how to make better decisions, and how to build and motivate teams across functions and regions.
